044 Common Greenshank

The Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) is 30-35 cm long heavily built elegant wader. In breeding season it has brown back, otherwise grey-brown. It has whitish underside, slightly upturned long brown bill, and long yellowish-green legs. They prefer freshwater marshes for breeding and build their nests on ground near water; a typical clutch may contain about 4 eggs.
