034 Garganey

The Garganey (Anas querquedula) is 39 cm long small duck. It has brown head and breast, broad white crescent over each eye, grey plumage, dark bill, and grey feet. Its breeding ground consists of shallow lakes, wet meadows, marshlands, and reedbeds in much of Europe and Asia in summer; but being strictly migratory, it moves to India, Australasia, and central and southern Africa in winter.
