007 Lesser Whistling Duck

The Lesser Whistling Duck, Indian Whistling Duck or Lesser Whistling Teal (Dendrocygna javanica) is 38-42 cm long duck with chestnut brown body, dark crown, grey bill, hestnut rump, and ashy-grey legs. It is resident breeder inhabiting around lakes and paddy fields in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. The birds feed, usually at night, on plants from water, cultivated rice grains, small fish, frogs, and worms; during the day they are found in flocks around waterbodies.
