053 White-breasted Waterhen

The White-breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus) is 28-33 cm long rail (a bird with short wings and long toes for running on soft mud). It has dark grey upperparts, conspicuous white face and undrparts, yellowish bill with a reddish base and olive outside, and yellow legs and feet. It is resident breeder in the marshes all across south Asia. These birds are seen singly or in pairs foraging insects, small fish, aquatic invertebrates, and seeds near the edge of water.
