003 Pied Avocet

The Pied Avocet (Ricurvirostra avosetta), also known as Black-capped Avocet or Eurasian Avocet, is a medium-sized (42-45 cm long) striking white wader. It has white plumage with black patches on the wings and on the back, black cap, long upturned dark bill, and long bluish legs. It is a migratory bird breeding in temperate Europe and Central Asia, but wintering in Africa and southern Asia. They nest in small groups on open ground.
