047 Black-tailed Godwit

The Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) is about 42 cm long large wading bird with uniform brown grey breast and upperparts, long black tipped yellowish bill, long light grey neck, long dark grey legs, and short wholly black tail. It breeds in a long stretch of area from Iceland, through Europe to the Central Asia in summer, but migrates to the Indian Subcontinent, West Africa, Western Europe, and Australia. It prefers inland freshwater areas like ferns, lake edges, moorlands, swamps, damp meadows, bogs, and estuaries for breeding.
