015 Little Heron

The Little Heron or Striated Heron or Green-backed Heron (Butorides striatus) is 40-46 cm long species with short greenish-grey neck, black crown, long black crest, balck bill, paler-grey underparts, and pale-yellow legs and toes. Little Herons are resident breeders in the tropics of the Old World. They are solitary by nature and hunt for prey alone. Generally they perch on a tree-branch over water waiting for a prey like fish and insects and jump, plunge or swim after it.
