019 Great Cormorant

The Great Cormorant or Great Black Cormorant or Large Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) is 70-102 cm long large seabird in the cormorant family. It is overall black with longish tail, yellow throat patch, thick whitish bill, and an impressive 121-160 cm wing span. It is a common and widespread bird found almost all over the globe except in very cold regions. It feeds on fish and other water creatures both in the sea as well as fresh water bodies like rivers and lakes, and estuaries. Overall white-looking albino species too have been documented from Greece.
