543 Indian Bushlark

The Indian Bushlark (Mirafra erythroptera), also known as Red-winged Bushlark, is 14 cm long species of bushlark. It is easily identified by its short tail, brown primary coverts, pale underparts with large spots, short bill and legs, and a cheek patch bounded by white supercilium and post-auricular border. It is a resident breeder in India. Its song flight during mating season is wonderful to watch, as it rapidly flies high above the ground and then glides down holding its wings in a V-shape while singing its song of short tweets and cheeps.
