554 Common Babbler

The Common Babbler (Turdoides caudata) is about 23 cm long Old World babbler. It is earthy brown overall with streaked darker brown upper plumage, whitish throat, slightly curved bill, and long loosely attached tail. It is a resident breeder in dry open scrub areas throughout Asia. Common Babblers forage on the ground in small groups of 6-20 birds, some of them keeping a watch over the group from atop nearby bushes and alerting it at the slightest danger.
