533 Red-rumped Swallow



The Red-rumped Swallow (Cecropis daurica) is 14-19 cm long bird resembling barn swallow, except that it has reddish rumps, face  and neck collar, and lack breast band. It is a resident breeder in India and Africa, but migratory in southern Europe and Southeast Asia. The species has very fast flying ability helping it catch insects from the air. It uses mud, which it carries in its beak, to build bowl-like tunnel entrance nest.
