511 Greater Caucal Crow

The Greater Coucal (Centropus sinensis), also called Crow Pheasant, is about 48 cm long non-parasitic species of cuckoo. It has black head, black glossed with purple upper mantle and underside, chestnut brown back and wings, dark green tail, and ruby-red eyes. It is resident breeder in southern Asia. It is pretty secretive bird and often keeps hidden under thick vegetation. This may be because, its flight is weak, slow, clumsy and at low elevation.
