The Asian Koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus) measures 39-46 cm in length including its long tail. The male has glossy bluish-black overall body, greenish-grey bill, grey legs and feet, and crimson iris. The female has brownish crown, head with rufous streaks, back, rump and wings dark brown with white and buff spots, and heavily striped whitish underparts. The species are native of South Asia, Southeast Asia, and China. It is a brood-parasite generally laying a single egg in the nest of other birds, especially crow.
