The White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis), also known as White-breasted Kingfisher, is a large bird of about 28 cm in length. The adult has a bright blue back, wings, and tail; chestnut head, shoulders, flanks and lower belly; white throat and breast; and large bright red bill and bright red legs. It is found widely in Eurasia from Bulgaria, Turkey, South Asia to the Philippines.  It is a tree kingfisher and can be seen well away from water as it feeds on small rodents, crabs, small reptiles, and amphibians.
